夏の葉は独特の照りがあり紺色とも見える．今の時期は寒さに耐えるため，赤褐色から茶色に微妙に異なる枯葉色になるが形がそのまま保たれるので，W. モリスの壁紙の様．下には紺色の葉も見える．
